I don’t remember the first time that I had these little bundles of yumminess, but i do remember that I fell in love. Hot ham and cheese with seasoning? How can you go wrong?
My uncle Tim was my mom’s brother. He loved to tease anyone and everyone. He had one of those killer smiles and he could talk like Donald Duck so as a child, I thought he was the funniest guy around. I remember a party at my folks house in VA and my mom pulled these out of the oven. Tim went to grab one and my mom scolded him, rightfully so, and he just grinned and said he couldn’t help it because “they were his favorites.” Ever since then, every time I make these sandwiches I think of my dear uncle.
My mom used to make these sliders with the Pepperidge Farm Soft-Style Dinner Rolls. Honestly, that is my preference because I am more of a savory kind of gal. A lot of folks use the Hawaiian Rolls and they work just as well.
I hope you enjoy these sliders. They will always make me smile.

Prep Time5 minutes
Cook Time25 minutes
Total Time30 minutes
Ingredients
1 package of rolls (dinner or Hawaiian work but there need to be 12 and the rolls need to be connected)
1/2 pound sliced ham, your favorite kind
1/2 pound sliced swiss cheese, thinly sliced
1/2 cup melted butter
1 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
2 teaspoons dried onions or shallots
2 tablespoons dijon mustard
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375. Grease a 9x13 pan
Cut the rolls in half horizontally. You will have 12 tops still connected and 12 bottoms still connected.
Spread the mustard on one side of the rolls.
Put the bottom part of the rolls in the prepared pan. Place the ham then the cheese on the bottom part of the rolls covering all of the area. Place the top of the rolls on top.
Mix the butter, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds and dried onions together.
Pour the mixture over the rolls.
Place in the oven and back until cheese is melted, 20-25 minutes.
Remove from the oven and cut into 12 rolls. Serve with extra mustard on the side.
Oh, my goodness. I’m going to try these. I’m going to try to be a football fan. My son is playing flag football this year and he likes it! Thank you for getting me excited about a sport I just don’t get. 🤷♀️
I am glad you are excited. Football is one of my favorite sports. I miss watching my kids play, even my daughter played and she was an incredible tight end.
If you ever want me to “momsplain” to you a little bit about the game, I am happy to do so.
